Vicki Flaris is a professor at Bronx Community College of The City University of New York teaching organic chemistry with a focus on polymer blends focusing in medical and automotive markets. Her last position was as industry marketing manager for the Styrenics Copolymers, BASF Corp. She worked as extrusion specialist and was subsequently promoted to marketing specialist, marketing manager to technical and marketing manager in the Foams business for Huntsman Corp. Prior to that she was a research scientist for DuPont Canada. Other companies include ICI and CSR.
Abstract
New Polymer Trends - An SPE Global Perspective
The applications of polymers are endless as we continue to address modern societal materials needs. Polymers are the backbone of plastics and their ability to create amazing products is simply fascinating. This presentation will examine both naturally produced polymers, as well as the latest developments for modifications to synthetic polymers. In addition, the dynamics of the increasing global marketplace will be explored and how it may shape these trends.
