Mike Hugel is a graduate in business management of Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. With a 17 year career in Development and Alumni Relations at the University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Hugel is currently the director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at the School of Engineering and Applied Science. He is responsible for developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with corporations and foundations that have an interest in the school’s academic and research agenda. Mr. Hugel accomplishes this by identifying organizations whose research interests align with the school’s faculty, determining what level collaboration is possible and, finally, negotiating a financial commitment and intellectual property agreement. Mr. Hugel is extremely focused on building relationships with faculty members to better target their research goals and needs. He is a key contact for Penn Engineering’s annual Career Awareness Day, and the chief organizer of numerous research forums throughout the school.
Abstract
This presentation will focus on how Penn Engineering and the University of Pennsylvania are working to develop relationships between Penn and industry through specific faculty and student interactions.
